My current project is a digital painting of my daughter as a wood fairy. Starting from a digital photo, the image was masked and brush effects and other tweaks are applied. The last step is finding a suitable background and giving a unified feel to all the elements of the image. The background in the third image is a starting point...it's hopefully going to end up more ethereal and mystical.

I've had a FIrefly fan fic story cooking in my head for a couple months now. And for some reason the form I envision it would take is a digital comic. I don't know why, because this is probably the most masochistic thing I could do to myself. The work involved would be insane. I've written a lot of story material, but the other half of the equation (indeed perhaps the majority of it) is the art. I need to know if this is doable.
The image above is my first test image. And I must stress, this is purely experimentational, a relative quickie. This ended up having a very airbrushed look to it. Not quite what I was expecting, but interesting. I need to try an approach that yields a more conventional comic coloration. More testing is in order. |
